Annie Bourdeau PhD, MBA

She was the first Canadian woman to be awarded the prestigious Cancer Immunology bursary from the Cancer Research Institute of New York for a second Fellowship in Cancer Immunology at McGill University (2003). She obtained transitional funds from the Lymphoma Research Foundation to start her career as Principal Investigator (2006). She moved back to Toronto (2007) as a Visiting Scientist to establish her own research program combining her expertise in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Stem Cells, Cardiovascular Biology, and Cancer Research. She was promoted to Junior Scientist, securing operating funds from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. As a scientist, she authored more than 146 publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, scientific abstracts, and presentations at national and international conferences. After almost ten years in academia, she completed an executive MBA from Queen’s University (2018) and while, starting her consulting firm: Amplius Business Design. She now works full-time at Amplius Business Design and, gets to know every client and shares her expertise on several life science boards of directors. Values of hard work, family and giving back to the community have animated Annie throughout her studies and early career. She is the happy mother of three boys, an official hockey mom, and a proud supporter of her community through active membership on multiple not-for-profit boards of directors and mentoring young adult business endeavors
Sébastien Trop MD, PhD, FRCSC

His research experience includes a PhD in Experimental Medicine with a specialization in Immunology from McGill University (2001), and a post-doctoral fellowship in Angiogenesis at the University of Toronto (2012), leading to Clinician-Scientist certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (2014). During his studies, Dr Trop received several awards and honors, including bursaries from the Fonds de la Recherche en Santé du Québec, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Heart & Stroke Foundation. He is a member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, the Canadian Cardiovascular Critical Care Society, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Presently, he practices Adult Critical Care Medicine in community and academic hospitals, in Quebec and in Ontario. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Montreal. He is a Site Investigator for multicenter clinical trials, and serves on several hospital committees. Formal training in Medical Expertise will complement his skill set. Sebastien is most proud of his titles as a loving compassionate husband, caring father of three boys, and unexpectedly enthusiastic hockey dad.

Amplius Business Design is founded on partnership, commitment and innovation
Annie, CEO, and Sébastien, Senior Consultant, started working together in 1992-1993 while studying Microbiology & Immunology at McGill University, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where they fell in love. While Annie moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada to complete a PhD in Immunology at the University of Toronto with the highest honors, Sébastien trained as a clinician-scientist at McGill University, in Montreal. By the time Annie had returned to Montreal for postdoctoral training and Sébastien had obtained his MDCM and PhD degrees, they were married and Philippe, their first son, was born. Jean-Michel (another boy!) followed 3 years later, as Annie was completing her post-doc and Sébastien was finishing his residency in Cardiac Surgery. The family again moved to Toronto where Annie started her scientific career, and Sébastien obtained additional training in Critical Care Medicine and began his career as an Intensivist.
Adversity first struck when Annie was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she faced with determination until treatment led to remission. The couple’s third son, Gabriel was born soon after. Tragedy hit Annie again, with a rare form of neuroendocrine cancer. Resolute, she found strength in her moral principles and in her love for her family, and was lucky to find dedicated and compassionate physicians in Toronto who supported her and ultimately cured her illness after a 2-year-plus struggle that nearly took her life. Unfortunately, the cancer cost not only her health but also spelled the demise of her research program.
Not to be defeated, Annie reinvented herself as a businesswoman and completed the Executive MBA program at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada with the unwavering support of her family and friends! During this time, she successfully launched her own consulting firm: Amplius Business Design. Already, the firm has a roster of international clients, who recognize Annie’s inquisitive mind, credentials, innovative approach to problem-solving and dedication to excellence. Through our hard work at Amplius, we are proud to contribute to the success of your enterprise and the growth of our community.
